Following the success of the new Womenswear store design, Project Orange was asked to collaborate on a new concept for Monsoon Man. The original brief called for a collection that would be bohemian but tailored, with an attention to detail and which was very wearable. We felt that the interior of the shop should be that of an atmospheric boutique with influences from the East.

The shop front is characterised by the dark bronze coloured metalwork and the flash of the red glass door handle. Within, the floor is a mid grey stone tile laced with strips of metallic bronze Italian mosaic. A line of bevelled mirrors lit with angled red-shaded lamps at high level reflects the warm stone leather buttoned panels. The brass-topped cash desk with its glowing Moroccan fretwork front sits in the centre of the store. A beamed walnut ceiling in-filled with silk panels, creates an authentic and moody ambience.

Other details include specially designed centre floor units, tables and a hand-tufted rug. At the rear of the store is a back-lit cabinet to display jewellery and gifts, set into a walnut frame. Behind this are the fitting rooms with their blood red carpet, walnut panelling and polished brass coat hooks. Here the walls are covered in Bollywood poster graphics, which again suggest the spirit of travel and adventure.
