Following the practical completion of Land Securities' new mixed use development 'One New Change', Project Orange were appointed to carry out the interior fit out of the reception that serves the upper office floors of the building. The brief was to design an interior treatment that not only created an impressive entrance experience, but that also complimented the original architecture of the external envelope.
Set in the heart of the City of London and designed by world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel, One New Change is an iconic piece of modern architecture, with floor to ceiling glass panes in shades of red, grey and beige. Taking inspiration from this, our approach was to connect the language and ambience of the shopping areas below with the office reception, using forms and colours that echo the architecture.
A bespoke banquette clad in lacquered ebony and upholstered in black-buttoned leather creates a focal point for the lobby, around which red leather chairs and low tables are arranged. A hand tufted rug in red and grey references the urban landscape reflected in fragments on the building's façade.
