This project is a residential extension and refurbishment in central London, just off of Exmouth Market. The property is a terraced house with commercial space on the ground floor that was previously a fast food takeaway. The building is in the Rosebery Avenue Conservation area of the London Borough of Islington.
The client approached Project Orange in late 2018 to discuss potential of building. The brief consists of transforming the cosy ground floor into a quaint and homely restaurant, intended for group dining with an open kitchen. The upper floors are residential. The 1st floor becomes an efficient open plan living space with a large kitchen. The 2nd floor becomes home to a master suite. A Traditional Mansard roof extension is added to provide a second bedroom and en-suite. An attractive terrace is situated to the rear of the building with great views over Rosebery avenue.
